SIGHTSEEING
Phahonyothin is blessed with green space galore – there are three large parks in the area, including Chatuchak Park with its artificial lake and many joggers, dog-walkers and picnickers. You’ll also find some of the best museums in town, including the Children’s Discovery Museum, Bangkok Butterfly Garden & Insectarium, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the State Railway Hall of Fame.

Phahonyothin is where you’ll find the world-famous Chatuchak Weekend Market – 35 acres of indoor and outdoor trading space, which plays host to over 8,000 vendors every weekend. Whether you’re browsing for knickknacks, or scouting for clothes, furniture or second-hand goods, something’s sure to catch your eye at Chatuchak. And if not, there’s always the eight-storey Union Mall next door – plus plenty more community malls like La Villa Ari and Aqua across the neighbourhood.

The main medical facility in the area is Paolo Memorial Hospital, which offer fantastic care and facilities. Also nearby are Phayathai 2 Hospital and Vichaiyut Hospital.

SCHOOLS
There are plenty of good schools on the doorstep – most notably, Horwang School and Satit Kaset International School – as well as Sripatum University and Kasetsart University, which both offer well-regarded, wide-ranging international programmes.

TRANSPORT
The BTS Skytrain runs the length of Phahonyothin, with three station stops at Mo-chit, Saphan Kwai and Ari. There are also four MRT subway stations in the area – Phahonyothin , LadPrao, Kamphaeng Phet and Chatuchak – as well as many useful bus routes. And the nearby expressway connects Phahonyothin directly to Don Mueang Airport, which offers daily flights to domestic and international destinations.

BUSINESS
Phahonyothin boasts several major office complexes – including the impressive Elephant Building, Sun Tower, SJ Infinite One Business Complex and the IBM Building. The headquarters of the Government Savings Bank and Kasikorn Bank are also conveniently located in the area.
